Day 1 to 5 Bogota – Tatacoa Desert – San Agustin
Your 21-day Colombia trip will of course begin in the capital Bogotá. The impressive history of this multi-million dollar city can be explored with our city tour in the colonial centre. The cable car takes you up the Monsterrate mountain for stunning views of the city. You leave the big city and go to the quiet empty spectacular Tatacoa desert. With a canoe you go over the Magdalena River and you stay overnight under the stars. Archaeological treasures are not unknown to Colombia either and you will discover them with a guide around San Agustin. To complete the atmosphere you stay in a beautiful hacienda.
Day 6 to 11 Popayan – Cali-Zona Cafatera
Slowly the Andes glides past you and with a stay in the colonial cities of Popayan and Cali you will see the next gem of Colombia: the coffee region. This one has an overwhelming beauty and tranquility. Here you will learn not only all about coffee, but also the valleys and picturesque villages from a hacienda with a guide. Of course, the Valle de Cocora with the tallest palm trees in the world goes with it.
Day 12 to 16 Medellin – Santa Marta – Tayrona
After the quiet life in the valley, we would like to show again a beautiful historical city. You stay in Medellin and on day 13 you get a city tour. After a short flight on day 14, your trip will take another complete turn, the Caribbean coast. A perfect location to end your trip in Colombia. The islands and national parks for and on the coast are home to some of the caribbean's most beautiful beaches and cities such as Cartagena and Santa Marta. From here you will visit the Tayrona National Park. You can enjoy the beaches, the jungle or visit the archaeological site 'El Publito'. The stay is here in applicable hammocks or a cabana if you want more luxury.
Day 17 to 20 Cartagena
Your last stay is in the delightful city of Cartagena, where you have plenty of time to read a book on the beach or make trips to uncharted places like Islas del Rosario. You also have the opportunity to visit the project which is supported by your trip. From here there is a transfer and unfortunately again a flight home.
Additional options on this tripIn addition to this versatile route, there is an opportunity to extend or customize it with personal wishes. You can think of a further discovery of the Andes by walking over impressive mountain ranges. The Colombian Amazons: to experience what the rainforest still holds from us. A cultural challenge to the tribes of Nabusimake, an area where the tourist is at some point not allowed to continue, an almost African experience. Or a discovery of the world at 80 KM2 where desert, salt flats, jungle and coast come together. Count on at least 4 additional travel days for each of these expansions.
At Go Local! the possibilities are almost unlimited, which is why we only give a short summary here. If you are looking for specific places, activities or experiences please let us know.
