Our aim of this 21-day trip is to make you feel like you have seen a continent and not just a country. You will find all the highlights of Islas Ballesta (Galapagos for the poor), the Desert of Huacahina and the Nazca lines. Finally, Colca Canyon as one of the deepest canyons in the world and of course Machu Picchu.
Day 1 to 4 Lima – Islas Ballesta – Huacachina – Nazca
You arrive in the capital Lima and with a transfer you will be taken to the hotel. The next day you will already visit one of the treasures of Peru, Islas Ballesta. After an early ride in a luxury bus (4 hours) you get on the boat. These islands are home to colonies of sea lions and penguins, cormorants, pelicans and with a little luck flamingos and dolphins. By private transport, continue to Huacachina, the oasis near Ica, a drive of approx. 1.5 hours. Once there, a buggy tour through the high sand hills of the desert is planned during setting sun. The next day you will go by bus to Nazca where you will experience optionally a spectacular flight over the famous Nazca lines. In the afternoon, you can rest from the first hectic days in the sun from Nazca before the luxury night bus departs for Arequipa.
Day 5 to 7 Arequipa
After arrival of the night bus in Arequipa you will be taken to your hotel. The beautiful, sunny city of Arequipa is an excellent place to spend a few days: fine weather, good restaurants, interesting museums and a fantastically beautiful city centre – listed on the World Heritage List. You have two days to investigate. Optionally, you'll take a city walk through Arequipa and the so-called "reality tour", where you get an idea of the daily life of many of the Arequipeñas.
Day 8 to 11 Colca Canyon – Machu Picchu – Puno – Umayomeer
On day 8, take the bus (4.5 hours) to one of the deepest canyons in the world, Colca Canyon. Here you get a group tour with a 100-mile journey on the first day to the town of Chivay in the valley. During this tour you will see the misti and chachani volcanoes, Picchu Picchu and Pampa Cañahuas National Park where, at an altitude of 3400 meters, groups of dustified llamas and alpacas and the wild, protected and rare vicuñas roam. You will stay at the beautifully located hotel in the small Andean community of Corporaque. After the tour, you can take a walk to the hot springs of La Calera. The next day you will look for condors, lizards, eagles, foxes and the large, rabbit-like vizcacha. There is also a stop at Maca – a village destroyed by a large earthquake in 1991. We also stop in Yanque, with a beautiful church, built from white volcanic rock. In the afternoon you are free to explore the area yourself. From here you will travel the next day to Puno where you will see the traditional Andean life with many market streets. An impressive option here is a visit to Lake Umayo, majestic tomb towers and a traditional farmhouse.
Day 12 to 15 Titicacameer – Taquile – Cusco
On day 12 you will be taken to the port to visit Lake Titicaca with floating islands of totora reeds. Today, several hundred members of the Uros tribe still live on the islands, where houses, watchtowers, churches and boats are made of reeds. On picturesque Amantaní you will spend the night with a traditional host family and experience a beautiful sunset. The next morning you will sail to nearby Taquile with its traditional textile work. After a nice walking tour and lunch (not included) you will sail back to Puno. The next day, you'll drive by bus in 7 hours to Cusco through the rugged mountains, narrow valleys with scattered Andean communities and finally for the green valleys near the ancient capital of the Incas. Around 15:00 you arrive in Cusco and we will take you to your hotel, in the picturesque artist district of San Blas. Where you have two days off to learn more about the Incas in the Museo Inca or the Museo Precolombino, visit the imposing ruins of Sacasywaman just outside the city and the magnificent colonial center with its many churches, stroll through the artist district of San Blas.
Day 16 to 20 Pisaq – Ollantaytambo – Machu Picchu – Lima
On day 16, visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas. First it goes by private transport to the village of Pisaq with its famous market and ruins, then the ancient village of Ollantaytambo where we visit the impressive Incafort. From Ollantaytambo, take the train to Aguas Calientes, the village near Machu Picchu, where you are staying. The next morning you take the first bus to Machu Picchu. At 6 am you can enter the 'Lost City of the Incas', just in time to see the first sunlight shining over the surrounding ridges. A magical moment. In the afternoon you will return by train and you will be taken to an estate just outside the village of Urubamba. Here you will stay in the beautiful rural surroundings of the Sacred Valley to catch up. You can also visit the foundation that is supported with your trip. The next day you will be taken to Cusco by private transfer in the afternoon. Where you can spend the next day off. On day 20, you will be taken to the airport in the morning and taken back to your hotel in Lima. The rest of the day you have time off, to explore Lima as you see fit. Optionally, there is a city tour. Unfortunately this is already the last night of the trip and you will be taken to the airport the next day for the flight home.

ipIn addition to this versatile route, there is an opportunity to extend or customize it with personal wishes. You can think here of further discovery of the Andes and to walk over impressive mountain ranges. The Amazon of Peru to discover what the rainforest still hides from us. Sporting challenges around Cusco include a mountain bike ride, rafting or paragliding. A cultural challenge is a trip to the salt pans of Salineras and the Indians.
